What sort of person would likely do well in the Antioch Network ministry environment? A person who:

  • is a dedicated and passionate follower of Jesus Christ
  • desires the inward transformation of the soul that comes from following Jesus
  • loves the church
  • is committed to work as a member of a team
  • thrives in community
  • is a self-starter
  • cares deeply about the nations, and especially about those who are still unreached

Each potential staff person’s situation is unique and no one process will fit all. Realizing that, and with our intention of entering in to a discernment process that fits each persons situation, these are some of the steps a potential candidate for joining the staff might take:

1.      Comes into relational contact with an existing staff member who becomes his/her “champion” in pursuing God’s will in this matter. (This staff member may in fact be the leader of the staff team the candidate would like to join.)

2.      Reads selected books to become more familiar with Antioch Network and its calling, history and ethos.

    •  “Loving the Church…Blessing the Nations” by George Miley
    • “The Divine Conspiracy” by Dallas Willard
    • “The Cost of Discipleship” by Dietrich Bonhoeffer

3.      Begins to connect with Antioch Network activities.

o        Joining the Staff phone calls

o        The Staff Gathering

o        Outreach opportunities with existing staff members

4.      Introduces the “champion” to the leadership of his/her home church, seeks their counsel and ultimately their blessing, to move in this direction.

5.      Participates in a period of internship, formal or informal, under the supervision of the “champion” but with other staff members also involved.

6.      Establishes a budget, which serves as a fund-raising goal, with the help of the “champion”, which is approved by the Executive Team.  This budget is a realistic reflection of what will be needed for salary and ministry expenses, based on personal and family circumstances.

7.      Receives the blessing of the Executive Team to begin fund-raising.

8.      Is welcomed by the Executive Team officially as a staff member when

o        The home church gives its blessing

o        The executive team gives its blessing

  • The financial support is raised.
